You must have an official handicap t o participate in the prize fund for any PRGC tournament. If you have any questions related to the handicap system, please call Bob C. Smith at 461-8776. The handicap<:f><:f180,BArial MT,0,0,0> system is as follows:<:f><:f180,BArial MT,0,0,0> Depending on your course handicap (not your USGA Index which is given to one decimal place), you will have a score that you will not be allowed to exceed on any hole for handicap purposes, regardless of the hole you are playing. For example (see table below), if your course handicap is 15. you cannot take more than a 7 on any hole for your handicap. You still must count all your strokes for your tournament score. You cannot pick up the ball after your 7th stroke, (except in team play -- having reached your limit, please do pick up when you are "out of the hole" and record your highest permitted score -- to speed play!)<-!><:f><:f180,BArial MT,0,0,0> You must hole out, enter your total number of strokes for the hole, add up your total strokes for the round, and use that total as your score for that round. Then you must look at your sco<:f180,BArial MT,0,0,0>res, and subtract from your total score for the round any strokes you took over a 7. This new total is your adjusted score that must be entered into the handicap computer located in the pro shop. See the table below for the maximum score for handicap purposes that you can t ake on any hole for your particular course handicap. PLEASE ADJUST AND POST ALL OF YOUR STROKE-PLAY SCORES If your course handicap is: The maximum score you can take on ANY hole for handicap purposes is: 0 - 9 6 10 - 19 7 20 - 29 8 30 - 39 9 GOLF TOURNAMENT - APRIL 15, 1995 The next golf tournament will be held on April 15, 1995 and will be a 3 Best Net Ball format. All tee times will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. NEW FOR '95: WEEKDAY MINI TOURNAMENTS See enclosed flier for details. These events feature unusual formats "for the fun of it." Purses are small, but "medals" can be won! 1995 IS THE YEAR OF FASTER PLAY The Board of Governors of the PRGC is very serious about speeding up play during our 1995 tournaments. The golf course marshals will be more aggressive in moving players alone. Appropriate actions will be taken with those players repeatedly not doing their best to keep pace, including, if necessary, by providing such individuals with a pro-rata refund of their membership dues. JUST KEEP PACE ! GOLF RULE OF THE MONTH PREFERRED LIES AND WINTER RULES - The USGA does not endorse "preferred lies" and "winter rules" and recommends that the Rules of Golf be observed uniformly. However, adverse conditions are sometimes so general throughout a course that the committee believes preferred lies or winter rules would promote fair play or help protect the course. The following Local Rule would seem appropriate for the conditions in question , but the USGA will not interpret it. A ball lying in a fairway may be lifted and cleaned, wit hout penalty, and placed within one club length of where it originally lay not nearer the hole and so as to preserve as nearly as possible the same stance required to play the original lie. A ball<:f><:f180,BArial MT,0,0,0> so lifted is back in<:f><:f180,BArial MT,0,0,0> play when the player addresses it. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
